We recently traveled to Napa and Sonoma. Our favorite winery there was Coppola Winery which was founded by American film director, Francis Ford Coppola. His vision for this place was a ‘pleasure garden’ for all people to enjoy. Inside the Winery, Rustic Restaurant stands out with its authentic dining room and its amazing outdoor terrace overlooking the picturesque Alexander Valley. Drawing on a life that has taken him around the world, Francis Ford Coppola shares his personal pantheon of recipes at Rustic. Inside the winery is like a museum that showcases cinematic history and unique pieces and pictures from Coppola’s films.
We enjoyed a light lunch while tasting a few white and red Coppola wines . Our red favorite was Director’s Cut ,Cabernet Sauvignon , 2018 which we bought 2 bottles , back to Fort worth, TX.

Blackcurrant, cedar and leather. Mocha, blackberry,anise. Well structured glass of wine; elegance from beginning to end. 10% Petit Verdot and a dash of Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Petite Sirah added. 15 months on French oak & American oak, of which 40% was new.
Winemaker Notes
The last couple of vintages have seen a return to classic seasonal patterns, where a cold rainy winter prepares the vines for warm temperatures later. In 2018, precipitation carried on into spring, extending the growing period several weeks past the preceding year. There were also fewer heat spikes this season, allowing the fruit to ripen at a nice steady pace, and providing slightly larger yields of very well-balanced fruit
Food pairing:
Combine with hearty meat dishes or with full-flavored, lightly spicy recipes. Goes well with lamb chops, prime rib and roasted turkey.
