Description

If you are looking for a vegetarian recipe that is packed with protein, this Pan Fried Tofu Recipe is just for you!

Tofu is made by coagulated soy milk and pressing the curds into blocks.

It can be used as a substitute for meat and cheese in many recipes. The Mediterranean diet is an eating plan that limits meat and focuses on legumes, vegetables, and whole grains. Because of this, the diet is well-suited to vegans and vegetarians. Beans, tofu, and nuts and seeds are some of the best foods to eat as a vegan on the Mediterranean diet.

Tofu is extremely adaptable: It can be enjoyed raw, pan-fried, baked, stir-fried, grilled, deep-fried, broiled, simmered in soup and more. Lots of people think tofu is tasteless, but when cooked properly with a few simple flavorings, it is absolutely delicious and savory.

What is Tofu? Is it Healthy?

Tofu, which originated in China, is made of condensed soy milk that’s pressed into solid white blocks in a process similar to cheese making. It is high in protein and contains all the essential amino acids your body needs. It also provides fats, carbs, and a wide variety of vitamins and minerals.

There are different types of tofu:

  • Soft tofu: Soft tofu is the Chinese-style equivalent of silken tofu.
  • Medium tofu: This tofu is denser than silken and soft but still fairly delicate.
  • Firm tofu: This tofu absorbs flavors well and can be stir-fried and pan-fried (how well it will hold together depends on the brand).

What is Pan-Frying?

Pan frying or pan-frying is a form of frying food characterized by the use of minimal cooking oil or fat (compared to shallow frying or deep frying), typically using just enough to lubricate the pan. This technique is perfect for this Pan Fried Tofu Recipe as it requires minimal oil. Pan frying differs from deep-frying in that it does not require large amounts of oil to completely cover the food product.
Pan frying will work for you if you want to achieve brown and slight crispness on foods. Additionally, if you want a healthier cooking technique, go for pan frying.

Note

Can I Use Soft Tofu?

Soft tofu has the least amount of water pressed out, while super-firm has a low moisture content and a dense texture. When it comes to getting crispy tofu, the firmer, the better. If the tofu has a higher water content it will make it difficult for it to pan-fry and become crispy. So if you want better results for this recipe go for the firm or extra firm type.

How to Pan Fry Tofu Crispy:

Even though we are an-frying,use enough oil to coat the pan since tofu has no fat in it. It is important to get the tofu crispy.
Don’t flip the tofu cubes too soon! Give 2-4 minutes on each side to fry. Once a side is golden brown, flip the cubes and cook the next side.Repeat this process until all sides of the tofu are golden and crispy.

How to Serve Pan-Fried Tofu:
